Terms of service

FlatSplit helps flatmates track shared expenses, chores and shopping. By using it you agree to these terms.
The service
The core features — expenses, balances, chores and shopping — are free. FlatSplit is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We work to keep it available and your data safe, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service, and to the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect damages or for disputes between flatmates.
Not a payment service. Balances and settle-up suggestions are bookkeeping between flatmates. Actual money moves outside the app and is entirely your responsibility. FlatSplit is not a financial institution and balances are not debts enforceable through us.
Accounts and households
Sign-in is by email link; keep access to your email account secure. Households are built on mutual trust: every member has equal rights — anyone in your household can invite others, regenerate the invite code, record or delete expenses, and even delete the household with all its data. Only invite people you trust, and export your data first if in doubt.
Your content.You keep ownership of the data you enter and grant us only the licence needed to store and display it to your household. Anyone you invite can see that household's data.
FlatSplit Pro
- Pro is an optional subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks extras — spending insights and CSV export — for the whole household. Core features stay free.
- Billing is handled by Stripe under Stripe's own terms. Prices include applicable VAT where required.
- Cancel anytimevia the "Manage subscription" link; Pro stays active until the end of the paid period, then the household returns to the free plan. No data is lost on downgrade — only the extras lock again.
- If a renewal payment fails, we keep Pro active for a grace period while Stripe retries before downgrading.
- Statutory withdrawal and refund rights remain unaffected; for anything billing-related, contact hello@flatsplit.app.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no spam, no attempts to access other households' data, no automated scraping, no use that disrupts the service for others. We may suspend or remove accounts that do, and refuse service where we reasonably suspect abuse.
Deletion and termination
Deleting a household permanently deletes its data for all members — export beforehand from the Household tab. You can stop using FlatSplit at any time. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice, giving you time to export your data.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; material changes will be dated here, and continued use means acceptance. These terms are governed by Spanish law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. Privacy is covered separately in our privacy policy.
